Is an Online Yoga Teacher Training approved by the Yoga Alliance? Yes, because of the pandemic Yoga Alliance has allowed current Registered Yoga Schools to teach their Yoga Teacher Training completely online.
Do I have to be an "advanced" yoga student to take the teacher training?
No, not at all! Our Yoga Teacher Training is about diving deeper into the study and practice of yoga. This includes studying postures and how to sequence a class so that you can learn to craft a practice and experience for any skill level, making Yoga accessible for all. Additionally, and what is most special and unique about our program is that we pull back the curtain and look behind the scenes of teaching Yoga. We dive into the philosophy, teachings, and richness of the ancient traditions of Yoga and learn to apply these teachings in everyday life. This is where transformation and incredible growth happens. All you need is an open heart and a willingness for personal growth to join our Yoga Teacher training program and benefit by gaining immense value from this experience.
What type of Yoga can I teach after completing the Yoga teacher training?
Graduates from our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification program are able to teach Vinyasa for students of all levels. Because of our empowered teaching methodology, intelligent sequencing and focus on body mechanics, our yoga teacher training develops teachers who have the technical skill and capacity to safely and effectively teach and inspire their students. As a Yoga Alliance Accredited Yoga School, you can rest assured that the training and certification you receive through our Yoga teacher training program is respected and recognized by the yoga community. While our training is steeped in “vinyasa” methodology, all that means is being able to guide postures in a fluid and connected way (that doesn’t mean fast or that you never pause and sustain postures, sustaining is important). After the training you will be able to lead classes that range from gentle, moderate, to more dynamic and heated practices. Our training focuses on teaching to all-levels by weaving in clear posture options and learning how to utilize props to support all students.
What if I miss a session? Am I able to make it up at a later date?
Our Yoga Teacher Training program is highly interactive, and our immersions depend on the consistent and collective energy of the group. We require 100% attendance. That said, life happens. If you need to miss any session you are responsible for any course material missed and will need to make it up. Students who miss a session can make it up by completing additional homework assignments related to the missed class topics and will need to pay a fee of $100 per session missed. A session is consider either 9am-12pm or 2pm-6pm. The maximum amount of missed time allowed is 2 sessions. Attendance and participation in the practice teaching days (of which there are 4 throughout the program), is required for certification. For makeup homework and makeup practice teaching day(s), additional fees apply.
What are the benefits of Yoga Teacher Training beyond certification?
There are numerous benefits beyond the obvious for participants of our Yoga Teacher Training Program. These include the opportunity to connect deeply with yourself and others through the training process, challenge yourself in new ways, expand awareness, acquire new skills, learn about your body, mind and heart and ways to attune and create greater harmony on all levels of your life.
What if I am not sure I want to teach Yoga after my Teacher Training?
About 40% of students who sign up for our yoga teacher training program have no intention of teaching. Many students enroll in yoga teacher training to further develop their own personal practice of yoga and learn more about themselves and this ancient tradition.
What does Lahari mean?
One translation of the word Lahari (Sanskrit) can mean wave. We believe to live yoga and to teach yoga, you must know how to skillfully ride the waves of life.
Are there scholarships?
Coby Kozlowski, Steven Leonard, Lahari Faculty and Simple Rhythm LLC believes that yoga is better for everyone when all communities are represented and is racially diverse - a reflection of our greater community. That's why we are offering awards to potential students who are part of communities that are underrepresented in the yoga/mindfulness world and are interested in diving into the teachings of yoga.
*You are eligible to apply if you identify as Latinx, Southeast Asian, African American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Native. These communities are underrepresented in the yoga/mindfulness world.
*You may request funding for up to 50% off the cost of the full tuition of the training (full tuition is $2500). Funding is limited and is offered on a rolling basis. To apply, please email lahariytt@gmail.com.
